LACHLAN'S SPEECH - WHAT IT MEANS
TO BE AN AUSTRALIAN
Good morning miss Mackay and 3/4. I am here to talk about
what it means to me to an Australian.
Australia is a land
of opportunity compared to many other countries.
The people of Australia are lucky enough to be able to live
their lives without war zones, and have freedom of speech ,which
means they can speak what they believe in.
We have our own special culture in Australia because we are a
country who has taken in many different people from around the world
and mixed together.
There are also many animals in Australia which no other
countries have. Seeing animals such as koalas, kangaroos, and emus
are all part of being Australian. We also have dangerous animals
such as snakes, spiders, crocodiles, stonefish and lots of other
dangerous creatures.
In Sydney we have lots of famous landmarks such as the
Harbour Bridge, the Sydney Opera House and the Blue Mountains around
the country there is Ayers Rock, Fraser Island, the Daintree
Rainforest and the Twelve Apostles. There are also the deserts of
Central Australia, the beaches around the coast and all the
beautiful places in between. When I visit these places or see them
on television I think of how lucky we are to have these things in
Australia.
Australians are
famous for all our sports such as cricket, football, basketball and
many other sports. It's great to have lots of sporting champions to
look up to and have the opportunity to be like them.
