THE CHINESE GARDEN
Yesterday at
approximately 8:30a.m I arrived at school because year five and year
six were going to China Town. At about 8:35 we got organised into
groups. I was in Tracey’s group with Nick and some other friends.
Five minutes later we walked to the train station. When we arrived
we played with friends in other groups finally when the train
arrived we hopped on. I got to sit at the top! On the way to central
me and Sarah read my book while Holly and Nick talked next to us.
When we were half way there Sarah gave us some chocolate that she
had made at home.
Finally we arrived at
Central and dawdled to the entertainment centre. After twenty
minutes of waiting our tour guide arrived. Her name was Di.
Di escorted us to the
Chinese Garden. At the entry was a stunning jade carriage hand
crafted by a Chinese person. When we went in we saw what was called
a dragon wall. The dragon wall was shipped to Australia in nine
hundred pieces! Imagine that as a jigsaw puzzle!
After that we opened a
pencil case that we found. The pencil case contained a key. Whoever
answered the question correctly received the key. I answered the
question correctly and received the key. We continued on the hunt
finding keys at various places. After we found all the keys we went
to a building to read a book called the Jade King. Only one key
would open the book. It was Kyal’s. The book was about Buddha
choosing 12 animals to represent a year.
After the book we made
an Origami rat. I think mine was the cutest! Our group received ten
minutes exploring. After exploring we had lunch at a café type
place. At the moment I finished I dashed to the fish pond only to
realise that moments before someone had dropped a piece of bread
into the water and over one hundred fish were fighting over the
bread.
My day was fun I wish I
could go again! My favourite part was the Penjing Exhibition, which
was a series of minute trees with tiny people on the rocks which the
trees grew from.

CHINESE GARDENS
Year 5 and Year 6 went
on an excursion to the beautiful Chinese Gardens. At school the
teacher split us into groups. Lucky I was with my friend Sarah or I
would be bored. We left school at 8:30 and walked to Mount
Ku-ring-gai station. When we got to the city each group got a tour
guide my groups tour guides name was Di.
Firstly Di directed us
the Chinese food court. Inside the shop there were fish heads which
stared at me through the thick glass. You could smell the fish
rotting from the outside. There were also sea slugs ewww they
were disgusting. Chinese people didn’t just come up for gold they
came for sea slugs. Apparently they taste good to Chinese people.
They look disgusting and I will never take a bite out of one of
them.
After we had a long look
at the food court Di led us to the Chinese Gardens. We strolled
through the front gate. At the very front there was a carriage made
out of green stone was carved by hand. The carriage was a light
green colour. As we walked further in Di told us were going on a
hunt to find the right key that fits in the book. It took us a while
but we finished the quest pretty quickly. As we did the quest we
explored around the Chinese Gardens. Near the end of the day we did
origami. I think that was one of the best things that we did when we
were there. When we found out we were late for the train we ran to
the train station. It felt like the trip back home was longer than
the trip to the city. But we eventually arrived at Mt Ku-ring-gai
station.

OUR
EXCURSION TO THE CHINESE GARDENS
By Nick
On Tuesday morning at 8:30am I was on my way to school because my
class year 5 and year 6 were going on an excursion to the Chinse
gardens.
Next the teacher marked the roll to see if there were more people
that had to come. Five minutes later we were on our way to the Mt
Kuring-gai train station. When we got on the train I was sitting
next to Zak and Holly. When we were going to the city Zak had a book
about UFO’s and that was cool.
When the train had stoped it was time to get off. As we got off we
had to walk all the way to the China town where we met our tour
guide who was Di and she was a girl.
First stop was Chian town and there was a thing called phoudog. It
was a big dog.
Next we were walking through China Town and you could smell the
food. It smelt nice.
When we got out of China Town we were on our way to the Chinese
Gardens. When we got in it was beautiful. First we had to find lot's
of clues. We had to find the right shape that would fit a book so
we could hear the story. The book was about a cat and a mouse and
they where best friends. The king told all the animals to come to a
party. So all the animals came to the party but the cat was a sleep
and the rat did not wake the cat up. When the cat got up he was not
happy. So that is why the cat always chases the mouse. Back to the
garden. There was a huge water fountain, also there was a bamboo
forest, a temple and lots of fish. We had lunch in the gardens and I
got to feed the fish which was funny.
Later it was time to go home but first we made Origami and then it
was time to go back to school. When we were at the train station
there was a person that helped us get on the train and he was nice.
When we were on the train Zak, Holly, Sarah, Amy and I were playing
Hangman. Moments later it was time to get off the train. By the time
we were at school it was time to go home.
And
that was the best day of my life! |
