Information Report on Seals

Seals belong to the group called mammals and they are grey.  When they dive they look like a torpedo.  Seals live in cold places and at the zoo.  They move by wiggling their tails and flippers.  Seals eat squid, fish and other seals and produce live babies. Many seals have fear of people but the Weddell Seal has none. Some seals are hunted by Great White Sharks.

RETELLING THE STORY OF BABOUSHKA

BABOUSHKA

Once upon a time in a snow covered village, there was an elderly woman called Baboushka. One night a wonderful star appeared in the night sky and all the villagers saw it, except Baboushka .She was too busy cleaning! Just then three powerful kings knocked on Baboushka’s door however she was very slow to open the door.

“Why are you here?” she asked

“We are following a star” they replied.

Later they invited Baboushka to join them.

“Come with us?”Asked the king

“Ok.. but after I finish my work and then I must find a toy for the new baby. Then I will follow you,” replied Baboushka.

So while the kings rested, Baboushka swept and polished, dusted and scrubbed, washed and cleaned.  Then she found some old toys and she polished them until they sparkled like a star.  Eventually she fell into a deep sleep because she was exhausted.

Unfortunately when she woke up, the three kings had already left. She was shocked!

Quickly, she put the toys in a basket and ran down the road.  She met a man.

“Have you seen the three Kings?” asked Baboushka

“Yes I have. They went that way,” he replied.

So on and on Baboushka travelled. Finally, she reached a town called Bethlehem. She went to the inn.

“Is the baby here?  Have you seen the new born king?”

“Yes! They were here but now they have fled!” replied the innkeeper.

Sadly, Baboushka left the town but she always kept her toys and when she visits a new town she leaves a toy for every child just in case they are the special new born king.

BABOUSHKA

Once upon a time there was a girl called Babushka. She was house-proud. One night a star appeared high above the town.  Everybody came to see it except Baboushka because she was too busy cleaning and scrubbing, washing and wiping, polishing and dusting.

Three kings knocked on her door because they had heard that her house was the cleanest.  They asked if they could stay for the day and rest until the star came back in the sky.  Baboushka said yes.  They asked her if she wanted to come with them to meet the new born king.  She said YES but she had to finish her cleaning and scrubbing, washing and wiping, polishing and dusting then she had to find a toy for the new born king.  Eventually she was ready but she was so tired she fell asleep.

Suddenly she woke up and realised the three kings were gone.   So she hurried after them.  She met a man on the road and he told Baboushka that they gone ahead already.  So she kept following the star.  Eventually she came to a town called Bethlehem.   She went to the Innkeeper and asked if he had seen the Three Kings.  He told her that they were here and they visited a new born baby but now the baby and the kings had gone.

Poor Baboushka was disappointed but she keeps on searching for the baby.  When she visits a girl or a boy she leaves a toy just in case they are the one special baby.

BABOUSHKA

Once upon a far away land there lived an elderly woman called Baboushka.  She had the finest and cleanest house in the whole village.  One night a brilliant and spectacular star shone down from high above the village. Everybody saw it except Baboushka because she was too busy cleaning her house.  Three Royal Kings arrived in the village.  They were following the star which showed them where a great King had been born.   The Three Kings had heard that Baboushka had the best house in the whole village so they knocked on her door.  Baboushka slowly opened the door and welcomed the three kings inside.  They told her that they were following the star and invited her to join them.

“I can’t follow you now! I have far too much work to do… I promise I will follow you tomorrow,” replied Baboushka.

So Baboushka went back to cleaning and polishing

Then she found some old toys. But they where to dirty so she polished the toys until toys were shiny as gold. Suddenly she fell into a deep sleep. When she woke up. She quickly ran out the door and started to follow the three royal kings and if she doesn’t find the new born king she leaves one toy for all boys and girls. So she kept looking for the baby king. First she asked four little children then a man also a shop keeper to see if they had seen the three royal kings but they all said no. So she kept on walking towards Bethlehem until she reached the place where the baby king was born. But when babushka looked in the cradle he wasn’t there babushka was terrified. The special baby had fled Bethlehem with his family.

Sadly,  Baboushka is still looking for the special baby.  She visits every town on Christmas night and leaves a toy for every boy and girl juts in case they are the special baby.

BABOUSHKA

Once upon a time in a snow covered village in Russia, there lived a elderly woman called Baboushka.  Baboushka was extremely house proud and she had the neatest house in the entire village. All of a sudden a brilliant star shone up in night sky. All of the villagers saw it except Baboushka. Baboushka was far too busy cleaning and scrubbing, washing and dusting, sweeping and wiping. The Three Royal Kings arrived and had heard that Baboushka had the cleanest house in the whole village so they knocked on her door.  Baboushka answered the door.,

“Where are you travelling to my royal masters?” asked Babousha.

“We’re following the star to find the New Born King and give him our gifts,” replied one of the Kings who was holding a bag of gold.

“Would you like to come with us?” asked another king who was holding a gift of expensive spices.

“We will be leaving as soon as the star appears tonight,” added the third king who was holding a bottle of sweet perfume.

“YES!” cried Baboushka, “I would love to see the new born king! BUT first I must tidy my house and find a present for the baby!”

So she cleaned her house from top to bottom then she found some old toys but they needed to be washed and polished. When she had finished she was so exhausted she fell fast asleep.

Eventually she awoke with a shock because she realised that the Kings had left without her!

“I’m late!” gasped Baboushka, “I must hurry! She grabbed her basket of toys and hurried along the road. She passed some people on the road and asked them if they had seen the kings and the people told her that they were just ahead of her.  Finally she reached the little town of Bethlehem and saw the star shining high above a stable. She asked a man if he had seen the baby king.
“Yes!  Yes! I have seen them. They were here but they have just left!” explained the man.

Poor Baboushka missed seeing the new born king but she is still travelling from town to town searching for him.

“Is he here? Is the new born king here?” asks Baboushka.

Just in case she finds the baby she leaves a toy for every boy and girl in every town she visits.
